Joining & your island

TL;DR

Connect, run /farm to claim your private floating island, and use /hub to get back to spawn. Visitors are read-only — only you can farm your plot. Every island starts on equal footing — same farmland, same height, different décor.

Everything in HarvestSeason happens on your own floating island in a custom void world.

Claiming your island

When you first join, head to your plot with /farm. The server assigns you a freshly generated 48×48 floating farm island with farmland, water, and a starter chest. Every island starts on an equal footing — the same usable farmland and the same ground height — so nobody gets a layout advantage. Only the décor varies cosmetically.

Your island is solo: it belongs to you for the season. There are no teams.

What’s on the island

  • Farmland and water channels — the entire usable surface is pre-tilled and watered. You can start planting immediately.
  • Starter chest — contains starter seeds and basic supplies to get your first rows in the ground. Check it before heading to the shop.
  • Barrier perimeter — an invisible full-height barrier ring wraps the island edge. You can farm right up to it without worrying about falling. If you somehow clip through (via a pearl or knockback), the server detects the overshoot and bounces you back to your last safe position — and a final teleport-home failsafe catches anything that still slips through.

Island fairness

The farmland footprint, water layout, and surface height are identical across every island. The only variation is cosmetic décor (stone accents, flowers, edge styling) — it’s generated from a per-plot seed so your island looks unique, but it has zero effect on the amount of farmable space or how fast crops grow.

The spawn hub

Spawn is a central hub at the world’s origin. Get there any time with /hub.

The hub contains:

  • Guide NPCs — interactive NPCs that explain game mechanics, the shop, and where to find help.
  • Live leaderboards — boards showing the current season standings, updated in real time.
  • Hall of Fame signage — the permanent record of past season champions.
  • Season status boards — current Featured crop, Market demand crop, active events, and season time remaining.

The hub is a safe, read-only social space. You can meet other farmers, check the standings, and plan your session before heading back to your plot.

Visiting other farms

You can visit other players’ islands (see Visiting farms) by running /farm visit <player>, provided that player has set their farm public or invited you. Visits are strictly read-only: you can walk around and look, but you can’t harvest, build, open containers, or interact with anything. That keeps every player’s score honestly their own.

If you want to show off your layout or invite a friend to spectate, run:

  • /farm public — open your island to all visitors.
  • /farm invite <player> — invite a specific player to visit.
  • /farm private — close your island back down.

Season resets

At the end of each season, your island is reset and unassigned — the farmland is cleared and returned to its starting state. When the next season begins, you claim a fresh island with /farm again. Score, leaderboard standings, and Hall of Fame records are preserved, but the physical island starts clean. See Seasons & resets for the full lifecycle.

Strategy & use-cases

  • First login of a season: run /farm immediately to claim your island, then open the starter chest before doing anything else. The seeds inside let you plant your first rows before spending any balance.
  • Navigating efficiently: keep /farm and /hub in muscle memory. There’s no cost to teleporting between them, so use /hub any time you want to check the leaderboard mid-session without losing your harvesting rhythm.
  • Checking the competition: before a major planting decision, swing by the hub leaderboards. If the top-ranked player is pulling ahead, it’s a good signal to double down on the current Featured crop — that’s where the multiplied score is coming from.
  • Farm name vanity: you can name your island with /farm name <text> (costs balance). It’s purely cosmetic, so only spend on it once you’ve covered your upgrade priorities.

Common mistakes

  • Skipping the starter chest. It has seeds. Don’t go straight to the shop when you can plant your first field for free.
  • Expecting visitors to help. Visitors are read-only — they cannot harvest on your behalf. If you’re thinking about any kind of “help,” remember the gamemode is solo-only; automation doesn’t score, and visitors can’t score for you either.
  • Panicking about the void. The barrier ring, the horizontal void-containment check, and the deep-void teleport-home are three independent layers of protection. You’re not going to fall off unless you deliberately bypass all three, which isn’t possible in normal play.

FAQ

How do I get my own island?

Run /farm. The server generates a private floating island and teleports you to it. It's yours for the season.

Can other players mess with my farm?

No. Visitors are read-only by design — they can't harvest, build, open containers, or touch your crops. Only you farm your island.

How do I get back to spawn?

Run /hub (or /spawn) to return to the central spawn hub at any time. Run /farm to go back to your island.

Can I fall off the edge of my island?

A full-height invisible barrier ring surrounds your island's perimeter, and the server will push you back if you somehow clip the edge. There's also a teleport-home failsafe if you ever reach the void.
