Ranks & presentation
Ranks are internal (no external permissions plugin). An earned ladder auto-grants from lifetime mastery and persists across seasons; staff ranks are assigned. Your rank prefix shows in chat, TAB, nameplate and the sidebar.
HarvestSeason manages its own ranks, prefixes and permissions internally — there’s no external permissions plugin involved.
The rank ladder
There are three kinds of rank:
- Default — what everyone starts with on their first join. You’re not at the bottom of anything; this is simply the baseline before mastery accumulates.
- Earned ladder — automatically granted as your lifetime mastery rises. This rank climbs over time as you put in farming hours across multiple seasons, and it persists across resets. Season wipes don’t touch it.
- Staff ranks — Founder, Admin, Mod, Helper — assigned to the moderation team. These are not earnable by regular players.
Because earned ranks come from mastery (a lifetime metric, not a per-season number), your rank is a genuine reflection of how long you’ve been grinding — not how much you spent, or how lucky you got in a single season.
Ranks are presentation, not power
This is worth saying directly: rank perks are cosmetic and presentational. A higher rank means a more distinctive prefix, a different gradient, and a higher weight in the TAB sort — it doesn’t increase your harvest rate, your sell value, or your score. The leaderboard is determined entirely by season score, which comes from manual harvesting alone.
You can reach rank 1 on the leaderboard your very first season, regardless of rank tier.
Where ranks show
Your rank prefix appears everywhere your name does:
- Chat — a bracketed, bold gradient tag to the left of your name, with a hover showing your rank name.
- TAB list — sorted by rank weight, so higher-rank players appear higher in the list.
- Nameplate — your overhead display above your character. The nameplate also shows your username and, if applicable, your Season Champion line.
- Sidebar scoreboard — the right-side HUD shows your current rank prefix alongside score, balance, placement, and Farming level.
The prefix uses a full gradient on chat, TAB, and the nameplate. On the sidebar scoreboard it’s simplified to the nearest solid color (gradients don’t render cleanly there).
Nicknames
You can set a display nickname with /nick <name> and remove it with /delnick. Your nickname appears in chat and on your nameplate in place of your username — the rank prefix always stays regardless of nickname.
How rank is applied
Permissions are assigned at runtime — when you join, or when your rank changes, the server applies your permission set automatically. There’s no need to re-log or use a command; the Brigadier command tree updates immediately so you only see commands you actually have access to.
Strategy & use-cases
Play for rank passively. The earned ladder is driven by lifetime mastery, which accumulates from Farming XP across every season you play. You don’t need to do anything special — just keep farming, and your rank climbs on its own over time.
Check your Farming skill to gauge progress. Since the earned rank is tied to mastery, your /skill or /farming screen is the best place to track how close you are to the next rank tier. Mastery doesn’t reset with seasons, so every point you earn is permanent.
Don’t mistake rank for leaderboard position. A newly joined player with the default rank can outscore a veteran with a high earned rank in any given season. Rank reflects long-term dedication; the leaderboard reflects this season’s hustle.
Link Discord for rank sync. Once you link with /discord link, your rank mirrors to a Discord role automatically. See Voting & Discord for setup — it takes about a minute and keeps both your in-game and Discord identities aligned.
Common mistakes
- Expecting rank to carry competitive advantage — it doesn’t. Score is score; rank is cosmetic tier.
- Thinking a season reset drops your rank — it won’t. Mastery is lifetime.
- Confusing rank with seed tiers — Seed tiers are separate, purchasable crop unlocks. Rank and tier are independent systems.

FAQ
How do I rank up?
The earned rank ladder is auto-granted from your lifetime Farming mastery, so it climbs as you play over time — and it persists across seasons.
Are ranks pay-to-win?
No. Earned ranks come from mastery, and their perks are prefixes and presentation, not competitive power. Score still comes only from harvesting.
Where does my rank show up?
Your rank prefix appears in chat, the TAB list, your overhead nameplate, and the sidebar scoreboard.
Do I lose my rank when a season resets?
No. The earned rank ladder is based on lifetime mastery, which persists across seasons. Season resets wipe score and balance, not ranks.
