Season Score vs Balance
Two separate numbers. Season Score is lifetime-earned this season, only ever rises, and sets your rank. Balance is spendable cash you earn by selling and spend in the shop. You can empty your wallet and your rank won't move.
HarvestSeason runs on two separate numbers. Keeping them straight is the key to the whole economy.
Season Score — your rank
Season score is everything you’ve earned by harvesting this season. It only ever goes up. Nothing spends it, nothing reduces it. It’s the single number that drives the leaderboard, your division, and your end-of-season placing.
You earn score one way: harvesting mature crops by hand.
What affects score
A few multipliers and bonuses feed into how much score each harvest awards:
- Featured crop multiplier — harvesting the weekly Featured crop earns bonus score per mature plant. The single biggest lever for ranking.
- Crop milestones — one-time bonus awards as you hit lifetime harvest counts on each crop type.
- Mythic Crops — rare drops; selling an authentic Mythic adds a flat score bonus (the one sanctioned exception to “selling doesn’t give score”).
- Season events — events like Featured Rush amplify score during their window. Check
/seasonfor what’s active.
Score is never modified by selling, by shop purchases, by balance going up or down, or by any game mechanic except the ones listed above.
Score on the leaderboard
Your score determines:
- Your rank on
/top(the main season leaderboard). - Your division (percentile bracket among all active players).
- Whether you finish in a top-N placing that earns prestige rewards at season end.
Because score only rises, every point you accumulate is permanent for the season. You can never be “set back” by spending — only by other players outpacing you.
Balance — your spending money
Balance is spendable internal currency. It goes up and down. You earn it by selling crops, and you spend it in the shop on upgrades, boosters, and cosmetics.
Balance shows on your sidebar and is accessible via /balance at any time.
What you spend balance on
- Seed tier unlocks — higher crop tiers require a one-time balance purchase to unlock access.
- Tool upgrades — Fortune and AoE radius on the Harvester Tool.
- Sell boosters — temporary multipliers on cash from selling.
- Farming skill items — shop items tied to skill abilities.
- Cosmetics — titles, trails, hats, and other vanity items (cosmetics never affect score or farming power).
- Build packs — decorative blocks for your island.
Because balance goes down when you spend, timing your purchases matters. You can’t buy everything at once early in a season — plan what upgrades pay back the most in throughput or sell value first.
Why they’re separate
Because scoring happens at harvest and cash happens at sell, the two are deliberately decoupled. If selling also gave score, you’d double-count every crop. So:
- Harvest → score (rank).
- Sell → balance (spending).
This means you can pour your whole balance into the shop and your rank won’t budge. Spend freely. A player who has spent every coin they earned is in no worse ranking position than the day they bought it — they just have better tools.
The one intentional exception: selling an authentic Mythic Crop adds a flat bonus directly to your score instead of paying cash. It bypasses the cash path entirely. This is the only time selling moves your rank.
Season end
At season end, score is wiped after rewards are distributed and the Hall of Fame is recorded. Balance is also reset. What persists:
- Hall of Fame entry — top finishers are recorded permanently.
- Prestige badges — championship podium placements and mastery milestones accumulate as lifetime badges visible on your profile, even after scores reset.
- Champion cosmetics — exclusive items awarded to top finishers remain in your cosmetics wardrobe.

Strategy & use-cases
- Spend aggressively on upgrades early. Because spending never hurts your score, there’s no reason to hoard balance. The Fortune upgrade and AoE Harvest Sweep pay back quickly in higher throughput and more sellable items. Buy them as soon as you can afford them.
- Don’t conflate “I sold a lot” with “I’m ranking well.” A player who sells constantly but harvests slowly will lose to a player who sweeps a full field every growth cycle. Score comes from harvests, not sell volume.
- Saving for a tier unlock? If you need a chunk of balance for a seed tier unlock, plan around it. Tier unlocks are one-time purchases that open higher-value crops — prioritise them over repeat-purchase boosters.
- Track both numbers. Your sidebar shows your score and balance side by side. Glance at it regularly. If your balance is growing but your score isn’t moving, you’re selling without harvesting — rotate crops back in and get to the field.
Common mistakes
- Thinking spending hurts rank. It never does. Shop purchases reduce balance, never score.
- Saving balance “just in case.” Hoarding balance while affordable upgrades are available slows your throughput and ultimately your score. Spend on power first, cosmetics later.
- Expecting sell volume to appear on the score leaderboard.
/topranks by season score, not balance earned or crops sold. Heavy sellers who don’t harvest often will rank lower than efficient hand-farmers.

FAQ
Does spending in the shop lower my rank?
Never. Shop purchases deduct balance only. Your season score is never reduced by spending, so you can buy freely without hurting your standing.
How do I raise my score?
Only by harvesting mature crops by hand. Score comes from harvesting, not selling.
How do I get balance to spend?
Sell crops through /sell. Selling pays balance (cash); it does not add score.
What happens to my score and balance at season end?
Season score is wiped at the end of each season (after rewards are distributed). Balance is also reset. Your Hall of Fame record and prestige badges persist across seasons.
