Selling crops

TL;DR

Sell crops for balance with /sell. Dumping huge amounts of one crop hits diminishing returns, so spread your sales. Boosters and the Master Farmer ability raise payouts. Unsellable items are always returned — never destroyed.

Selling is the only sanctioned way to turn crops into spendable balance. There’s no /pay and no player trading — the sell path is the single cash-in.

How to sell

You have three paths depending on how much you want to sell and how quickly:

  • /sell opens a sell GUI — a themed chest. Drop items in, close the window, and everything sellable is sold at once. Anything that can’t be sold is handed straight back to you — nothing is ever destroyed. This is the main path for clearing a full inventory after a long harvest session.
  • /sell hand sells just what you’re currently holding. Useful for a quick single-stack sale without opening a menu.
  • /sell all sells every sellable crop in your inventory in one command. Fast if you know you want to clear everything.

All three paths pay balance only. None of them add score (that would double-count your harvest).

The sell GUI in detail

Running bare /sell opens an empty chest. You freely move items in and out before closing — it behaves like a normal chest while it’s open. When you close the window, the server sells everything inside at once and applies all relevant modifiers (diminishing returns, boosters, Master Farmer bonus, Market demand premium). Anything unsellable comes back to you immediately.

This matters for sorting your inventory: if you have a mix of sellable crops and unsellable items (tools, keys, etc.), just dump everything in. The unsellables come right back.

Diminishing returns

To stop the market being flooded by one crop, prices fall as you sell large quantities of the same crop in a short time window. Sell the same crop heavily in one sitting and each subsequent batch earns less than the previous one.

The penalty window is temporary — prices recover over time. The system is per-crop: dumping wheat doesn’t affect your potatoes’ price.

How to work with it

  • Spread sales across crop types. Instead of selling your entire potato stack, sell some potatoes, then some wheat, then some carrots. You stay in the fresh-price range for each.
  • Sell in multiple shorter sessions. Selling half your inventory now and the other half an hour later often earns more than selling everything at once.
  • Rotate your fields. Growing multiple crop types naturally distributes what you’re selling, keeping diminishing returns spread thin across the board.
  • Reset with the shop item. There’s a shop item that resets your diminishing-returns window early, if you need a burst of full-price sales. Worth it before a big sell session.

Selling for more

Several stacking modifiers raise what you earn per crop:

Market demand crop

The weekly Market demand crop sells for a premium. If you’re pushing to afford a big upgrade, align your field toward the Market crop that week — the cash bonus is significant. Check /season or the hub board for the current pick.

Sell boosters

Temporary percentage multipliers on sell value. Purchasable from the shop. Stack with other bonuses. Good to activate right before a large sell session when you have a full inventory.

Master Farmer ability

Unlocked through the Farming skill, Master Farmer gives a permanent standing sell bonus — it applies to every sale you make, no activation needed. One of the best long-term balance multipliers available.

Boosts from season events

Events like Delivery Rush increase the payout for delivery completions, which indirectly rewards selling the right crops. Keep an eye on /season for active events.

Mythic Crops — the one exception

Mythic Crops bypass the normal sell path entirely. Selling an authentic Mythic adds a flat bonus directly to your season score instead of balance. Diminishing returns, boosters, and Market demand premium don’t apply — the Mythic path is its own separate calculation.

This is the only time selling directly moves your rank.

Strategy & use-cases

  • Sell after every harvest session, not during. Sweeping a full field first and then heading to /sell is more efficient than interrupting your harvesting rhythm. The crop items sit in your inventory fine; nothing spoils.
  • Time a sell booster around a full inventory. Sell boosters are temporary. Buy and activate one when you have a large stack ready to go — don’t activate it early and let the timer run while your inventory is thin.
  • Prioritise selling the Market demand crop before it rotates. The weekly Market crop gives a premium that expires when the rotation hits. If you have a stack of the current Market crop and the week is about to turn over, sell it before the rotation.
  • Use /sell all for speed, /sell GUI for precision. If you have a mixed inventory and only want to sell certain items, use the GUI so you can pick what goes in. If everything in your inventory is sellable, /sell all is faster.

Common mistakes

  • Selling everything at once and hitting heavy diminishing returns. One massive sell dump of a single crop will push you into significant price drops. Spread it out.
  • Forgetting to sell between sessions. If you’re farming but not selling, your balance isn’t growing and you can’t buy upgrades. Selling is how you fund the shop.
  • Expecting sell volume to raise your rank. Selling pays balance; it doesn’t add score. Your rank comes from harvests, not sales. You can sell constantly and not move on the leaderboard if you’re not also harvesting efficiently.
  • Thinking unsellable items are destroyed in the GUI. They’re not — always returned. Drop everything in without worrying about sorting.

FAQ

How do I sell?

Run /sell to open a sell GUI — drop items in and close to sell everything. Or use /sell hand and /sell all for quick sales. Unsellable items are always handed back, never destroyed.

Why is one crop paying less than before?

Diminishing returns. Selling a lot of the same crop in a short window lowers its price, to discourage flooding the market with a single crop. Prices recover over time.

How do I sell for more?

Sell into the weekly Market demand crop, use sell boosters from the shop, and unlock the Master Farmer farming ability for a permanent sell bonus.

Does selling give score?

No — selling pays balance only. The one exception is selling an authentic Mythic Crop, which adds a flat bonus to your season score instead of paying cash.
