Lunar Client setup

TL;DR

Lunar Client is a free all-in-one client with built-in performance optimizations and FPS mods; install it, pick the server's Minecraft version, and you get smooth frames with no manual modding.

Lunar Client is a free, all-in-one Minecraft client that bundles performance optimizations, a clean UI, and a library of quality-of-life mods — no manual modding required. It is one of the easiest ways to get smooth frames on HarvestSeason, and it is fully allowed.

Fair play note: Lunar Client’s built-in mods are performance and cosmetic tools — allowed and encouraged. As always, cheat clients, x-ray, and autoclickers/macros are banned. Lunar does not include any of those.

Why players pick Lunar

  • One download, zero modding. Performance gains are baked in.
  • Built-in FPS boost comparable to Sodium for most players.
  • A polished launcher with version switching, cosmetics, and a mod toggle screen.
  • Built-in shaders without separately installing Iris.

The trade-off is less flexibility than a Fabric setup — you use Lunar’s curated mod list rather than installing any mod from Modrinth. For HarvestSeason that is rarely a problem.

Installing Lunar Client

  1. Go to lunarclient.com and download the installer for your OS (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
  2. Run the installer and follow the prompts. It installs alongside your normal Minecraft — it does not replace the vanilla launcher.
  3. Launch Lunar Client. On first run it downloads its files; give it a minute.
  4. Sign in with your Microsoft (premium) account. HarvestSeason is online-mode and requires a paid Java account.

Picking the right Minecraft version

This is the step people miss. HarvestSeason runs a specific modern version, shown on the website (the /play or /status page). Lunar must launch that same version.

  1. On the Lunar launcher home screen, find the version selector (usually a dropdown near the Launch button).
  2. Choose the version that matches the server. If you are unsure, check playharvestseason.com first.
  3. Click Launch.

If you connect and get a “version mismatch” or “outdated client/server” message, you launched the wrong version. Go back and switch it.

Useful built-in mods and settings

Lunar ships a long list of mods you toggle from the Mods screen (open the in-game menu, then Mods, or configure from the launcher). Good ones for farming on HarvestSeason:

ModWhat it doesRecommended
FPS displayShows your live frame rateOn (helps you tune)
CoordinatesShows your XYZ positionOn
KeystrokesOn-screen key displayOptional
ZoomOptiFine-style zoom keyHandy
MinimapSimple overview mapOptional, see note
Toggle sprintHold-free sprintingOn (less finger strain)

Minimap caution: HarvestSeason allows simple minimaps only — no entity radar or cave/x-ray style reveals. Lunar’s minimap is fine as long as you do not enable any entity-tracking or radar feature.

Performance settings inside Lunar

  • Set Render Distance to 8–12 chunks.
  • Set Graphics to Fast.
  • Lower Particles and turn off unnecessary visual mods you do not use.
  • Cap Max FPS a little above your monitor’s refresh rate.

These mirror the video settings guide — the same principles apply inside any client.

Shaders on Lunar

Lunar has integrated shader support. To enable it, open Settings → look for the Shaders or Performance section, and pick a pack. Keep the preset on Low or Medium for HarvestSeason — you spend most of your time looking at a bright field of crops, and heavy shaders cost frames you would rather spend on harvesting. See shaders without wrecking your FPS for tuning advice that applies here too.

Allocating RAM in Lunar

Lunar lets you set RAM from the launcher settings (look for Java/Memory or RAM Allocation). 4GB is plenty for most players; 6GB if you run shaders. More is not better — see allocating RAM correctly before cranking it up.

Lunar vs Fabric/Sodium — honest take

Both are excellent and both are allowed. Choose based on how you like to work:

  • Choose Lunar if you want the simplest possible setup, a nice UI, built-in cosmetics and shaders, and you are happy using a curated mod list.
  • Choose Fabric + Sodium (or Fabulously Optimized) if you want maximum control, the absolute latest performance mods, and the ability to add any Modrinth mod.

There is no wrong answer. Many players keep both installed and pick per session.

Troubleshooting

  • Can’t connect / version error: you launched the wrong Minecraft version. Match it to the website.
  • Won’t sign in: confirm you are using a paid Microsoft Java account (online-mode is required).
  • Still low FPS: drop render distance to 8, set Graphics to Fast, disable shaders, and check you are plugged in if on a laptop. See improve your FPS.
  • Mods missing: open the Mods screen and enable the ones you want; many are off by default.

What’s next

Compare renderers in OptiFine vs Sodium, or if you would rather build a custom Fabric instance, head to Prism Launcher + Fabric setup.

FAQ

Is Lunar Client allowed on HarvestSeason?

Yes. Lunar Client is a legitimate performance client and is explicitly allowed. Its bundled mods are cosmetic and performance-focused, not cheats.

Does Lunar Client work with the server's version?

Lunar supports many Minecraft versions. Pick the one that matches the version shown on the HarvestSeason website before connecting.

Can I use shaders on Lunar Client?

Yes, Lunar has built-in shader support. Keep presets light for the best balance of looks and frames — see Shaders without wrecking your FPS.

Lunar or Fabric/Sodium — which is better?

Both are great. Lunar is the easiest one-click option. Fabric with Sodium is more customizable and often a touch faster. Either is allowed here.
