Appealing a punishment

TL;DR

Appeals are submitted through the website at /appeal. Sign in with Discord (no Minecraft link needed) and explain why the punishment was unjust. Staff review cases and respond within a few days.

If you believe a punishment was applied in error, unfairly, or without adequate context, you can formally appeal it. Appeals are reviewed by staff at or above the rank of whoever issued the original punishment.

Before you appeal

An appeal is a request to have a punishment reviewed and potentially overturned or reduced — not erased from the record. If your goal is to remove a fully-served punishment from your public record, that is expungement, which is a separate process with different criteria.

Read through the rules and the punishments page before filing. Understanding the rule you were punished for helps you write a stronger appeal.

How to submit

  1. Go to /appeal on the website.
  2. Sign in with Discord — you do not need to have your Minecraft account linked. Your Discord identity helps staff identify and communicate about your case.
  3. Fill in your in-game name (IGN), the nature of your appeal, and a clear explanation of why the punishment was issued in error or why you believe it should be reduced.
  4. Submit the form. You will receive a confirmation and can track status on the /apply hub.

Banned players can still use the appeal form — Discord sign-in does not require you to be in the server, and you do not need to be able to join the Minecraft server.

Writing a good appeal

A well-written appeal is specific and honest. The following elements help:

  • What the punishment was — “I was banned on [approximate date] for [reason shown].”
  • Your understanding of the rule — show you have read and understood what rule applies.
  • Why you believe the punishment was issued incorrectly — factual context, not just “it wasn’t fair.”
  • What you intend going forward — if the punishment was issued correctly but you’re asking for leniency, explain why and what changes.

Hostile appeals or those that attack staff personally are unlikely to be reconsidered. Stay constructive.

What happens next

A staff member will review the case. They can see the punishment record, the issuing staff’s notes, and your appeal text. Possible outcomes:

OutcomeWhat it means
UpheldThe punishment stands as issued. The appeal is dismissed.
ReducedDuration or severity is lowered (e.g. a permanent ban becomes 30 days).
OverturnedThe punishment is lifted immediately. The record still shows the event, but the punishment is marked void.
EscalatedReviewed by a higher-rank staff member (Admin or Founder) for a second opinion.

The decision is posted to your appeal on the website — track it any time with your appeal number on the Punishments page (or under “My Cases” if you’re signed in). Staff may reach out on Discord if they need more detail, but the appeal is decided on the site.

Things that don’t qualify

  • Appealing an active punishment you admit you deserved, but want removed anyway — that is the expungement path, and only applies after the punishment is fully served.
  • Appealing a warning you received just to have it removed from your public count, with no claim it was incorrect.
  • Appealing on behalf of someone else — appeals must come from the account holder.

After the appeal

If your appeal is overturned or reduced, you are welcome back in the game immediately (if the ban is lifted). The public punishment record on /punishments is updated accordingly.

If your appeal is denied, you may not submit a second appeal for the same punishment unless you have new information that was not available at the time of the first appeal.

If you believe the process itself was unfair — a conflict of interest, a procedural error — you can reach out to a Founder directly through the Discord.

FAQ

Do I need my Minecraft account linked to Discord to appeal?

No — you only need to sign in with Discord. Enter your in-game name manually on the appeal form.

My ban expired. Can I still appeal?

Yes. You can appeal any punishment, active or expired, if you believe it was issued in error or applied unfairly.

What if I want to clear a punishment from my public record entirely?

That is a different process called expungement. See the Expungement wiki article for eligibility requirements.

How long does a review take?

Generally a few days. Complex cases may take longer. You can check the status of your case on the /punishments page or the /apply hub.

Can I appeal a warning?

Yes. Warnings, mutes, and bans are all appealable.
