Expungement

TL;DR

Expungement removes a served punishment from your public record so other players can't see it. It is not the same as an appeal. Requests are submitted at /expunge and reviewed exclusively by the Founder. Eligibility is strict.

Expungement is the process of removing a punishment from your public-facing record on the /punishments page so that it is no longer visible to other players. It is available only in specific circumstances and is reviewed exclusively by the Founder.

Expungement vs appeal

These are different processes for different situations.

If you believe a punishment was incorrect, file an appeal first. Expungement is not a substitute for a disputed punishment.

Who qualifies

Expungement is not granted automatically. The Founder considers the following before approving:

  1. The punishment is fully served — active bans or mutes cannot be expunged while they are running.
  2. No repeated violations of the same rule — a pattern of the same offense signals that the original punishment reflects genuine behavior, not an isolated mistake.
  3. Time has passed — very recent punishments are unlikely to be approved; expungement is for demonstrated rehabilitation, not for minimizing a punishment you just finished serving.
  4. The original punishment was not extreme — particularly severe bans (e.g. for cheating, major exploitation, or harassment) have a higher bar.

Submitting a request is not a guarantee of approval. Eligibility is assessed case by case.

How to submit a request

  1. Go to /expunge on the website.
  2. Sign in with Discord. You do not need your Minecraft account linked, but you must be able to sign in.
  3. Enter your in-game name (IGN).
  4. Select the scope of your request:
    • My entire punishment record — request expungement of all served punishments.
    • Specific punishment(s) — describe which entries you want removed.
  5. Write a justification — explain why you are requesting expungement and how you meet the criteria. Be specific and honest.
  6. Submit.

You can view the status of your request on /expunge after signing in.

What the Founder sees

The Founder reviews your request alongside your full punishment history — including entries you did not request expungement for. The review looks at the complete picture, not just the item you asked about.

For specific-punishment requests, the Founder selects which individual entries to remove. They may approve some entries and deny others in the same request (a partial approval).

After a decision

DecisionWhat changes
ApprovedThe selected entries no longer appear on the public /punishments page. Staff-visible records note that expungement was applied.
Partially approvedSome entries are removed; others remain.
DeniedNo changes. The denial does not create a new punishment or affect your in-game standing.

Expungement does not retroactively change staff notes, audit logs, or anything internal to the server. It is a cosmetic change to the public-facing record only.

What it does not do

  • It does not lift an active ban or mute — that is an appeal.
  • It does not remove the entry from staff-visible records — staff can always see that a punishment existed and that expungement was applied.
  • It does not reset your account as if you were a new player — rank, stats, and standing are unchanged.
  • It does not prevent future punishments from appearing — only past, served entries that were specifically approved for expungement are removed.

Re-applying

If your request is denied, you may resubmit after a meaningful period of time (at least 60 days) with a more specific or stronger justification. Submitting the same request repeatedly without new context will continue to be denied.

FAQ

What is the difference between an appeal and expungement?

An appeal contests whether a punishment was correct. Expungement removes a punishment from your public record after it is fully served. You cannot expunge an active punishment.

Does expungement mean the punishment never happened?

No. Staff can still see that an expungement was applied. The record exists internally — it is only hidden from the public-facing /punishments page.

How long does review take?

There is no fixed timeline. The Founder reviews requests personally. Complex or borderline cases may take several weeks.

Can I request expungement for every punishment on my record?

You can request it for any served punishment, but the Founder reviews each on its own merits and may approve, partially approve, or deny the request.

Does expungement reset my in-game standing?

No. Expungement is purely cosmetic — it affects only the public record. In-game bans, rank restrictions, and staff notes are unchanged.
