Suggestions & community polls

TL;DR

Submit suggestions at /suggestions (sign in required). Vote on active polls at /polls. Staff review all suggestions and post status updates. Poll results inform decisions but aren't binding votes.

HarvestSeason actively collects community input through two channels: an open suggestions board where anyone can submit ideas, and periodic community polls where the team puts specific questions to the player base.

Suggestions

Submitting an idea

Go to /suggestions and sign in with Discord. Fill in:

  • Title — a short, descriptive name for your idea.
  • Body — explain the idea in detail. Include the problem it solves, how it would work, and why it fits the server’s design.

Your suggestion is published publicly so other players can see it. Discord name and in-game name (if you entered one) are shown alongside it.

What makes a good suggestion

The most useful suggestions are specific and aware of the design constraints:

  • Explain the problem before the solution — “selling feels slow at peak time because X” is better than “add a fast-sell button.”
  • Consider competitive fairness — suggestions that give paying players a gameplay advantage will be declined regardless of quality. Cosmetic and quality-of-life suggestions are the strongest fit.
  • One idea per submission — a single clear suggestion is far easier to act on than a list of five bundled ideas.
  • Check whether it already exists by searching /suggestions or the wiki — duplicate suggestions dilute attention.

Status updates and any staff response are visible on the /suggestions page. You don’t need to follow up in Discord — check the page.

What happens to declined suggestions

Declined doesn’t mean bad. Common reasons:

  • Design lock — the feature conflicts with a permanently locked decision (manual-harvest-only, solo-only, no pay-to-win, etc.).
  • Already implemented — the feature exists under a different name or is accessible in a different way.
  • Out of scope — interesting but not a fit for what HarvestSeason is trying to be.
  • Too broad — needs to be scoped down before it can be evaluated.

A declined suggestion can be resubmitted if circumstances change (e.g. a design decision is reversed) or if you can address the specific concern raised in the staff note.

Community polls

What polls are

Polls are binary Yes / No questions the staff team posts when they want to gauge community sentiment before making a decision. They are not referendums — the results inform the team, but final decisions rest with staff.

Polls show up on /polls. Active polls can be voted on by any signed-in player.

How to vote

  1. Go to /polls and sign in with Discord.
  2. Click Yes or No on any active poll.
  3. Your vote is recorded — you cannot change it after submission, and you cannot vote more than once per poll.

Results are shown as a vote count and percentage. When a poll closes (either at a set date or manually by staff), the results are locked and the poll is archived.

Why your vote counts

The staff use poll data to understand whether changes have broad support before investing significant implementation time. A strong signal either way — especially a clear “No” from the community — genuinely affects whether something moves forward.

Vote participation also shows how engaged the community is. Even if the result doesn’t change a specific decision, consistent poll participation signals that the community cares about having input, which encourages the team to keep asking.

Both are ways to have input — suggestions for proposing new ideas, polls for reacting to specific decisions the team is weighing.

FAQ

Do I need Discord linked to submit a suggestion?

You need to sign in with Discord on the website, but you do not need to have your Minecraft account linked.

How long until a suggestion gets a response?

There is no fixed SLA, but staff review the queue regularly. High-traffic periods may take longer. Check the status on /suggestions.

Can I suggest things that would break the competitive fairness rules?

You can suggest anything, but suggestions that would introduce pay-to-win mechanics, automation scoring paths, or team play will be declined — those are locked design decisions.

How are polls different from suggestions?

Polls are binary yes/no questions the staff post to gauge community sentiment on a specific decision. Suggestions are open-ended ideas you submit. They serve different purposes.

Can I vote on a poll more than once?

No — one vote per account per poll.
